At the time of placement, a Uniting Hope Case Manager will be assigned to the foster child placed in your home. They will be available and attentive to both the foster child's needs and the foster family's needs. They also work with the biological family of the foster child to build bridges for everyone to work together for the best interest of the child.
Our team is made up of women who not only love what they do but are also diligent, intentional and have hearts to serve.
At the very least, your case manager will come to your house one time per month. They are in charge of the overall wellbeing of the child placed with you. They attend every court hearing, celebrate birthdays, manage appointments, and so much more. They do all of that but most often they become a part of your family.
Taking care of children from hard places requires unique and creative strategies. We hope to resource foster parents to care for the children placed with them. Training is one of the ways we do that!
Every foster and respite parent is required to complete 15 hours of continuing education training each calendar year in order for your home to remain in compliance. While there are many requirements for training, Uniting Hope provides opportunities and resources throughout the year to help you complete all the requirements!
Having a home that is licensed for foster care means that you have to follow a few rules. Our team at Uniting Hope wants to make it as easy as possible for you to stay in "compliance". Our team works hard to keep you on track and sends frequent updates and reminders on what is required or needed from you.
Dads are the best! Uniting Hope hosts regular foster dad events where training and fellowship take place.
We also host specialized events (i.e. breakfasts, axe throwing, etc.) for foster dads to have fun together and connect!
Connecting foster moms and providing opportunities for them to have fun together is one of our favorite things! We have support groups for foster moms to come together and build lasting relationships with other women going through similar experiences.
We also plan unique, specialized events through out the year (retreats, dinners, etc.)!
NTDC training is the state required training for all potential foster and respite families.
The National Training and Development Curriculum (NTDC) is based on research and input from experts, families who have experience with fostering or adopting children, and former foster and adoptive youth. . NTDC addresses the entire service continuum from initial inquiry through completion of the family evaluation.
Uniting Hope helps families get signed up for NTDC classes in the first stages of licensing their home.
Uniting Hope plans and hosts family fun events throughout the year for families to enjoy time together. We host training events for families to get their Continuing Education Credits several times a year as well.
Many of the events we provide are also a great opportunity for foster families to invite the foster children's biological family members to join in on the fun!
